What is Inside Methuen?
Inside Methuen is your city, covered completely. (Well, soon… we need more writers!)
The goal is for this to be not just politics. Not just the meetings. All of it … the businesses opening on Lowell Street, the student who just made All-State, the neighborhood that flooded again, the history behind the building everyone drives past but nobody knows the story of, the development going up on the corner, the DPW building that needs a new roof, and yes, what your city council actually did last Monday night.
Methuen is a city of 53,000 people. It has schools, small businesses, youth sports, working families, longtime residents, new arrivals, rich history, and real challenges. For a long time, most of it went uncovered or covered with a twist or focus. Inside Methuen exists to change that.
How it works
This is not a newsroom. There’s no financial motivation behind it, no advertisers shaping what gets covered, and no political machine funding the operation. Inside Methuen is powered by residents, neighbors who attend meetings, read public documents, interview real people, and take the time to explain what’s happening in plain language. Purely because we enjoy it.
Every contributor brings something different. Some cover local government. Some write about business and development. Some dig into history. Some spotlight the people and moments that make this city worth paying attention to. All of them share one thing: they care about Methuen and believe its residents deserve to know what’s going on.

Why subscribe?
A free subscription means every story lands directly in your inbox… no algorithm, no paywall on the basics, no noise.
A paid subscription, right now, is just a way to help fund the costs associated with this adventure that is Inside Methuen. Over time, we hope to grow and incentivize people to subscribe. More on that when we have it.
Want to be part of it?
Inside Methuen only works when more people get involved. If you’ve ever read a story and thought why isn’t anyone covering this? — that’s your cue.
Whether you want to write, contribute research, photograph an event, flag an issue, or simply share what’s published here with people who need to see it, there’s a place for you. You don’t need to be a journalist. You need to care about Methuen and be willing to do the work honestly.
Reach out. Let’s build this together.
Local news doesn’t fail because people stop caring about their communities. It fails because nobody steps up to cover them. Inside Methuen is the step.
